Drill results from the Microonda epithermal gold property in Argentina are proving consistently encouraging for Yamana Resources (TSE) and Noranda Mining & Exploration (a unit of Toronto-listed Noranda).
Yamana has drilled 17 reverse-circulation holes totalling 2,865 metres on three of seven targets.
The targets constitute a broad, U-shaped anomaly that measures 2.5 km wide and 2 km long.
Every hole intersected one or more intervals, measuring more than 10 metres and averaging at least 0.1 gram gold per tonne. In addition, many 2-metre intervals returned values ranging from 0.5 to 12.79 grams gold.
Hole 2 assayed 0.31 gram over 51 metres, including a 2-metre intercept that averaged 3.37 grams; hole 4 averaged 0.75 gram over 18 metres, including 3.94 grams over 2 metres; and hole 9 cut a 40-metre interval that ran 1.22 grams and a 90-metre interval that averaged 0.18 gram. (The 40-metre interval included a 14-metre intercept that averaged 3.31 grams and a narrower, 2-metre interval that ran 12.79 grams.)
The property, which lies in the Vanguardia district of Santa Cruz province, will soon undergo additional drilling.
