Quest goes underground at Damoti Lake

A US$2.5-million program of underground exploration is testing the continuity of high-grade oreshoots at the Damoti Lake gold project in the Northwest Territories.

Quest International Resources (QIX-T) has completed a 565-ft.-long decline in the Horseshoe Pyrite zone, while, in the South drift, sampling of a 120-ft.-long structure averaged 1.01 oz. gold per ton over widths of 9-12 ft.

Sampling along a second zone, in the North drift, averaged 1.79 oz. The company is continuing to advance the face of this drift, while drilling tests the downdip extensions of the two mineralized zones.

The program, nearly complete, will enable Quest to calculate a probable reserve for the Horseshoe zone.

Meanwhile, on the diamond front, the company has discovered two new kimberlite pipes, Ram 6 and 6.5, at its Ice property near Elkford, B.C.

Previous work had identified five kimberlite pipes, including the Ram 5 kimberlite where a 2-mm diamond fragment was found.

A 30-ton bulk sample was taken from each of the Ram 5, 6 and 6.5 pipes, and an additional 5-ton sample was taken from a kimberlite dyke exposed in a road cut.

Geophysical surveys suggest the Ram 6 pipe measures 300 metres long by 100 metres wide. The size of the Ram 6.5 is believed to exceed 200 by 100 metres.

A one-half-cubic-yard sample extracted from the Ram 6.5 pipe revealed a 1.5-mm gem-quality diamond fragment.

Results from bulk sampling are expected by late November.
