Sampling, trenching and diamond drilling are under way in the Repentir sector of Franc-Or Resources’ (TSE) Saul-Sophie gold property in French Guiana.
Many of the trenches have yielded encouraging values of up to 2.25 grams per tonne over 14.5 metres. Although work to date indicates the mineralization exists in narrow oreshoots, Franc-Or hopes that by drilling two holes in the Repentir area, it will uncover larger zones.
Additional trenching and sampling are being carried out to the northwest on the Nicole and West-Felix areas of the property, with drilling expected to follow.
Franc-Or is also constructing a 4.5-km road, linking these three areas with another, known as Sophie. Although this fourth area is the most remote, it exhibits considerable potential as the geology bears similarities to Placer Dome’s (TSE) Las Cristinas gold project in the Kilometre 88 region of Venezuela. The ground is underlain by large, potassic, granitoid intrusions rimmed with gold occurrences.
Nine targets have been defined on the overall property, by means of satellite imagery, as well as airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys.
