An 11-hole program of underground drilling tested the continuity of the mine’s West zone between the 2,750- and 3,450-ft. levels. Seven of the holes intersected gold mineralization.
Grades ranged from 0.21 to 0.49 oz. per ton over true thicknesses of 5-18 ft. The average thickness was 8.9 ft.
The two widest intersections, both of 18 ft., were between 2,750 and 2,850 ft. in vertical depth. They confirm earlier results in the area above the mine’s 2,925-ft. level. Drifts and raises confirmed an average grade of 0.37 oz. per ton and showed the zone to be up to 20 ft. thick.
In July, the resource in the West zone was estimated to be 452,000 tons grading 0.39 oz. gold per tonne, mostly in the inferred category. In January 2004, nine more drill holes will begin testing the depth extension more fully.
