Conference to focus on the environment

A 1-day conference dealing with the environment and mining will take place Oct. 18 at L’Hotel in Toronto. Titled “Environmental regulation and liability in the mining industry,” the conference is being organized in co-operation with the Ontario Mining Association as part of Mining Week in Ontario. Topics to be discussed include current and proposed legislation governing Ontario mining operations; duties and liabilities of company directors and officers; mine site closure, decommissioning and reclamation; and, risk management and options for financing environmental risks.
