MINING IN AFRICA SPECIAL — African countries featured at

More than 20 African countries are expected to take part in the African Mining Investment symposium to take place May 24-26 in Toronto.

Organized by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency of the World Bank Group (MIGA), the event will promote the mineral-rich countries of Africa as venues for international mining investment.

Key government representatives (such as ministers and directors of mines) will attend, as will private-sector representatives from participating countries.

The symposium will focus on specific exploration opportunities, existing mines available for investment and projects at the advanced prefeasibility stage. The event is also expected to provide a forum for discussion and negotiations between international mining companies and delegates from Africa. Financing mining ventures in Africa will be discussed in the program sessions, which will feature speakers from international agencies, investment banks and industry.

Further information is available from MIGA by contacting Dr. Karin Millett at (303) 436-9480 or (202) 473-5535.
