Initial drilling on the Tyrrell Twp. gold project near Shining Tree, Ont., has yielded encouraging results for partners Haddington Resources (VSE) and Portman Explorations (VSE).
The project consists of the contiguous Hydro Creek, Hare Lake, and Goldeye properties, and contains at least nine drill targets. Associated with a southeast-trending deformation zone, the targets were outlined using magnetic, induced polarization (IP), soil geochemical and geological surveys. Of the three holes drilled on Hydro Creek, only HC-2 intersected gold mineralization. Measuring 162.7 to 218.4 metres, this hole graded 2.74 grams gold per tonne over 55.7 metres, including an interval of 4 grams over 10.8 metres from 208.7 to 214.5 metres. True widths are estimated to be 60% of the core length.
Hole HC-1, 500 meters west of HC-2, stopped short of the mineralized zone and is being extended. Hole HC-3, situated 100 meters east of HC-2, was dyked out by a north-trending diabase body. Four more holes will be drilled to test for the extension of the mineralized zone encountered in hole HC-2. On the Goldeye property, hole GE-1 returned 3.17 grams over a core length of 7.4 meters. This hole was drilled 350 metres east of HC-2. True widths are estimated to be 80% of core length.
A detailed spectral IP survey is under way to define mineralization along the deformation zone, and to plan further drilling.
