Gencor, Lonrho make CIS plans

South African mining house Gencor and British-based mining group Lonrho are setting up a joint company to develop gold mines in the former Soviet Union.

The new company will be equally owned and will exploit opportunities in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Lonrho’s contribution to the new venture will be existing operations and contacts, while Gencor will provide the expertise of its mine development team and its patented technology of bacteriological oxidation.
