Further information about Noranda’s (TSE) Wisconsin zinc discovery will be kept confidential until the company issues an official press release, said John Harvey, president of Noranda Exploration. As part of an agreement between Noranda and Oneida Cty., the county must be informed before Noranda may discuss details of the project with the public, he explained. Oneida is renting the land that hosts the Lynne project to Noranda for $5 per acre.
Two rigs are currently operating on the property, Harvey said, but he refused to comment on how many holes the company had drilled since the discovery, or whether or not the recent holes intersected the zinc-rich target zone. The company will issue a press release as soon as it receives more assay results, possibly during the week of July 23.
