BM&S exploring

Toronto-listed Brunswick Mining and Smelting has earmarked $37.5 million over the next five years to find ore within trucking distance of its New Brunswick operation.

If this search proves fruitless, daily tonnages will fall to 8,000 tonnes within the next seven years as production increasingly depends on pillars and remnants. A new millfeed of “local ore” would secure Brunswick’s current 10,500-tonne-per-day operation.

The minable reserve at Brunswick is about 60 million tonnes. The annual milling rate is roughly 2.5 million tonnes, according to Canadian Mines Handbook 1992-93.
