LETTERS TO THE EDITOR — Cartoon not in good taste

We wish to convey our disappointment with the March 7, 1994, editorial page cartoon. As we view it, your newspaper, to which we subscribe, is trying to make fun of someone who has difficulty with the English language, which is an attitude we find objectionable.

The subject of your artist is conveniently unidentified, so the reader can only guess whom you had in mind.

We recall with interest the results of a recent attempt by someone who aspired to represent Canada’s national interests and who also tried to make fun of someone.

Not only did Kim Campbell have to withdraw those degrading television ads about Jean Chretien, but she got booted out of office. Subscribers to publications such as The Northern Miner can exercise their voice differently but just as effectively.
