Hall of Fame seeks candidates

Now in its third year, The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame is again calling for nominations for induction at an upcoming banquet ceremony to be held in Toronto’s Royal York Hotel Jan. 7, 1991, when the successful candidates will be announced. National in scope, the process will be administered through the facilities of the Mining Association of Canada, one of the Hall’s four sponsors which is soliciting nominations from each of its 15 country-wide mining-oriented or mining-associated organizations. Other sponsors are the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and Northern Miner Press Inc.

Last year there were eight inductees — three living and five posthumously. “The process continues to be highly selective and demanding of major achievement,” Chairman Maurice Brown emphasizes, noting nominations cannot be accepted directly from individuals.

Below are the Criteria for Selection. For further information, including the Guidelines for Nomination, contact Jacques Hudon, The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, c/o The Mining Association of Canada, Suite 809, 350 Sparks St., Ottawa, Ont.
