Infill drilling results from the Myra Falls mine property near Campbell River, B.C., prompted mine owner Westmin Resources (TSE) to predict that ore tonnage in the main Battle and the upper lenses will increase.
Westmin is conducting an infill and stepout drilling program with four drill rigs to outline a number of new ore zones discovered in 1991. The two main zones, the Battle and Gap, were last estimated to contain proven and probable reserves totalling 2.02 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams gold and 50.3 grams silver per tonne plus 2.1% copper, 0.5% lead and 10.8% zinc. Preliminary reserves in all categories in the two zones are estimated at close to four million tonnes.
