A course on the exploration of convergent plate margins (CPMs) is to be held at Queen’s University on June
2-4.
The course, a follow-up to last year’s workshop on giant ore deposits, is being held on behalf of QMinEx Associates, an industry support group for the MinEx masters program at Queen’s.
The course will look at the metallogenic evolution of modern CPMs in light of plate tectonic mechanisms, magmatic-hydrothermal processes, major structural features and amalgamation-accretionary processes. The focus will be on how geologists can apply concepts derived from modern CPMs to exploring for Precambrian CPMs.
Full registration fee is $550 and the QMinEx Associate fee is $400. For further information contact Linda Anderson or Dr. Robert Mason, Department of Geological Sciences, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ont., K7L 3N6.
