NEWS ROUNDUP — Alberta find may host minable deposit

After seven years of exploration in northeastern Alberta, a private Edmonton-based company, HMS Properties, says it has outlined a large deposit of metallic minerals in a Devonian limestone formation. The metals found, in salt form, have minimum values of 10 oz. silver per ton, 0.11 oz. gold and 0.11 oz. rhodium.

A mini-pilot plant has been set up to process material from the property. The material is first leached and then the metals are collected by flotation. The company says it is seeking a joint venture partner to help develop the 80-square-mile property.
