Tieman takes MNR assignment

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) recently took on former Ontario Mining and Lands Commissioner Dennis Tieman for a special assignment.

Tieman, who was appointed commissioner in 1990, will examine the various options for establishing a framework to improve the resolution of land-use disputes on both Crown and patented land in the province.

Russel Yurkow, deputy Mining and Lands Commissioner, will act as commissioner until the position is filled.

The office of the Mining and Lands Commissioner is an independent administrative tribunal responsible for hearing and deciding appeals under the Mining Act, the Conservation Authorities Act, the Aggregate Resources Act and other legislation administered by MNR and the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
