Good pay day for BHP’s Goodyear

BHP Billiton CEO Charles “Chip” Goodyear will receive an annual remuneration package worth almost A$6 million.

The package consists of a base salary of A$1.9 million, another A$1 million in lieu of superannuation contributions, and bonuses of up to A$3 million.

Earlier this year the mining company paid its former CEO, Brian Gilbertson, more than A$10 million and a lifetime pension of US$985,000 per year, after just six months in the job.

Gilbertson quit the company in January citing irreconcilable differences with the boards of both the British and Australian arms of the company. His replacement, Goodyear, started with BHP in 1999 as chief financial officer.
