Cowichan Lake, Vancouver Island, will once again be the scenic setting for the advanced prospecting course offered by the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.
The 14th annual, 18-day, live-in program comprises practical instruction in geological, geochemical and geophysical prospecting methods, law, metallurgy, and provincial government acts and regulation. The course is field- oriented so that each student leaving the course will have working experience on an economic mineral prospect.
Although limited to a maximum of 32 students, the course is available to anyone holding a valid British Columbia Free Miner Certificate. Applicants will be required to demonstrate basic skills in rock and mineral identification and should have some prospecting experience.
