Encouraging results from early stage exploration work have prompted Queenstake Resources (TSE) to expand a first- phase geological and geochemical program to better define drill targets on its recently acquired Snowsquall project in Pershing Cty., Nev. The program is being carried out on key areas of a 4,760-acre land package covering several contiguous exploration properties in the Farrell mine district.
Based on previous work on these properties and on recent reconnaissance geological mapping and geochemical sampling, Queenstake said it had defined a geological model “similar to the Round Mountain mine” which contains 150 million tons of 0.035 oz. gold per ton.
President Gordon Gutrath noted that the property’s geological features combined with anomalous gold mineralization were “indicative of a potential large tonnage gold deposit.”
A number of companies — including Standard Slag, U.S. Borax, Homestake, Nerco and Interaction Resources — are reported to have worked on certain areas contained within the Snowsquall land package with varying results.
Access to the property is by county-maintained roads from the nearby mining town of Lovelock.
