KEGS hands out scholarships

The Canadian Exploration Geophysicists Society (KEGS) Foundation has awarded scholarships for the upcoming academic year to nine undergraduate students in geophysics at six Canadian universities.

The recipients are as follows: Michael Ash, Olubusola Koyi and Aditya Pattanaik of Memorial University; Julie Belanger of cole Polytechnique in Montreal; Sean Dickie of McMaster University; John Evangelatos of McGill University; Nicole Jacques of the University of Western Ontario; and Alexa Ransom and Victoria Sterritt of Queens University.

Belanger, a fourth-year student, will receive the Limion scholarship, established in honour of noted Canadian geophysicist Heikki Limion. Ash, Evangelatos, Jacques and Koyi were awarded scholarships in the previous academic year.

This is the fourth year the Foundation has provided scholarships. They range from $500 to $1000, and total $6,000.

The KEGS Foundation relies on donations to support undergraduate geophysicists in Canada.
