Murgor President Mackenzie Watson says his company optioned 12 claims from Scott Grant, a local prospector, shortly after Exploration Orex (ME) announced results of re-assayed drill core from the Goldboro property.
The 12 claims lie about two kilometres west of underground workings on the Goldboro property where Orex plans to take a large bulk sample in 1990.
Murgor is also negotiating with Aurion Minerals, a private Halifax-ba sed company run by geologist Tony Barrett. Aurion holds four more claims which lie between the 12-claim block and the Orex ground. The claims cover the axis of the anticlinal structure which hosts the Goldboro deposit.
A spokesman for Orient says it expects to close an option deal on claims in the area shortly.
Orex is raising $6 million for work on the property through Brault, Guy, O’Brien in Montreal. The first instalment in that underwriting closed this week and the brokerage is confident the remaining instalments will be fully subscribed. “Yes, we’ll sell the whole thing,” says Diane Bastien of corporate finance for Brault, Guy, O’Brien.
