Sample results encourage Hidden Lake Gold Mines

The 22,000-acre property is about 60 miles northwest of Yellowknife and is underlain by metamorphosed sandstones and shales.

Reconnaissance prospecting by Hidden Lake has located a number of gold-bearing iron formation horizons within a 2-mile-wide belt of unexplored sedimentary rocks.

One chip sample across a 25-ft width of sulphide bearing iron- formation returned 0.08 oz gold per ton, including 0.25 oz gold over 5 ft. Other significant grab samples from five widely-spaced iron formation horizons yielded values ranging between 0.17-0.27 oz gold.

“Given the sparse outcrop and limited time our geological team has spent prospecting, the results auger well for Wheeler Lake’s potential,” said geologist John Brophy.

To date, a total 303 surface rock samples have been collected by Hidden Lake, with 20 of them returning values greater than 0.03 oz.
