Syngold underground program finds continuous ore grades

Located near Rouyn-Noranda, Que., the property is held (35%) by Syngold and (65%) by Minnova.

By drifting on two levels, the joint venture is attempting to prove up 804,000 tons of grade 0.25 oz gold per ton in drill-indicated reserves, before doing a feasibility study.

The first 600 ft of drift in the Donalda No 1 Vein on the 900-ft level east of the crosscut averages 0.29 oz gold over a mining width of 5.9 ft, according to Syngold.

The initial 393 ft of drift west of the crosscut averages 0.18 oz over similar widths.

The weighted average grade for the total drift length of 993 ft is 0.25 oz gold over a mining width of 5.9 ft, Syngold says.

This grade is identical to the reserve grade of 0.25 oz calculated for the 517,000 tons assigned to the No 1 vein from surface drilling.

In a bid to establish vertical continuity in the No 1 vein, operator Minnova is driving a raise from the 900-ft level drift to intersect a stope in the old Donalda mine workings. Drifting in the No 1 vein from the 1,230-ft level is also scheduled to begin soon.

The underground exploration program will be followed by a production feasibility study which is expected to be finished late this year.
