Placer Dome in sulphur

Placer has the right to earn a 51% interest by spending $4.5 million (US) on the property. The partners feel the property has the potential to host 10-15 million tonnes of elemental sulphur.

The deposit was discovered during oil and gas exploration drilling in 1982. Sulphur sells for $142 per tonne. The industrial mineral is used in the chemical processing industry and for fertilizers.
