50 Years Ago THE NORTHERN MINER SISCOE DRILLS OFF 19TH LEVEL

Siscoe Gold Mines is embarking on a large and exhaustive campaign of diamond drilling on the 19th level at a depth of 2,475 ft, The Northern Miner learned on a recent visit to the property. The main shaft was recently completed to a depth of 2,539 ft, establishing five new levels, and now a crosscut has been driven 350 ft north on the deepest level where two large drill stations have been cut out. It is planned to fan out a complete circle of flat holes at first, followed by incline holes later, for the purpose of prospecting an area one mile in diameter underneath existing workings. Two large drill rigs will be used, each with a range of half a mile.

Since Siscoe’s main vein started to weaken below the 10th level to the point that eventually little or no ore showed up on the 13th and 14th, particular attention is being focused on new depth disclosures at this pioneer gold mine at the east end of the Quebec belt.
