Fell supervised the shaft sinking in 1946-47 at what is now called the Arthur W. White mine. He was appointed mine manager when the mine opened and stayed with Dickenson until his retirement in 1977. He was a director of the company and general manager at the time of his retirement.
Arthur White, a long-time friend and business associate, described Fell as “a wonderful person.” White says he was also well known as a champion amateur boxer.
