Volume leader this week on COATS was Atlantic Goldfields. The issue saw volume increase to well over 300,000 shares with active trading in the 50 -57 range, a low for the past few weeks.
In October, the company announced it would begin to buy back certain of its issued shares through open market purchases. It is also in the process of amalgamating with Jascan Resources (TSE). The sale of their combined interests in the Noxon joint venture in Montana is expected to net the companies about $20 million.
Exxeter Resources was second highest volume leader with just under 300,000 shares traded in the 20 -42 range. The company announced last month it was negotiating a private placement through Packard Group to fund exploration of its Quebec and Nevada properties.
Regal Goldfields has acquired 35 claims in Ben Nevis Twp., Larder Lake Mining Division, Ont. Exploration work is currently being carried out on the claims. Regal President Douglas Bannerman, says there were some changes regarding investors in its recently announced private placement, but the amount involved has remained the same. Regal was steady at 50 .
South American Goldfields perked up on increased volume this week to the 73 -85 range. It had been trading just under 70 during the past month. The company recently launched joint venture gold projects with Denison Mines and Homestake International Minerals in Guyana, South America.
