Mapping on the 4th level of the Simkar project has led to the discovery of a gold mineralized alteration zone. Located near Val d’Or, Que., the Simkar project is operated by Ronrico Explorations (VSE).
According to Nelson Baker, Ronrico’s geological consultant, the alteration zone is believed to be the downdip extension of the A zone. “In contrast to other gold zones in the Simkar, this alteration zone appears to have gold evenly distributed across the entire width,” Baker says.
The B zone is proximal and parallel to the A zone. Drilling, which tested both zones from underground, returned encouraging results, Ronrico says. In the A zone, 13.9 ft graded 0.188 oz gold per ton and 2.6 ft graded 0.288 oz. Another section intersected 21.9 ft assaying 0.349 oz gold and 21.9 ft assaying 0.186 oz.
Drilling of the B zone returned 22.4 ft grading 0.143 oz gold and 5.1 ft assaying 0.22 oz per ton. The geometry of the zone below the fourth level remains undefined. A former gold producer known as Louvicourt Goldfields, the Simkar is shared equally by Ronrico and Louvicourt Gold Mines (COATS).
