LETTERS Foreign Explorers

We read with great interest the March issue of The Northern Miner Magazine dealing with Exploration ’87. We noticed that the picture which was supposed to illustrate the draft article which we submitted in response to your request was presented at page 58 of the magazine, without even mentioning the name of our company, Cogema Canada Ltd., or the Cigar Lake uranium mine. Your choice of companies, mostly limited to North American corporations listed in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver, does not give a complete actual picture of the exploration scene in Canada since you forgot to mention the important role played by Europeans and Japanese.

We think that Cogema, which will invest more than five million solid dollars — not flow-through share money partly paid by Canadian taxpayers — in exploration for uranium and gold and which participates in various ventures totaling more than $7.5 million, is a good illustration of the special effort made by foreign companies in Canada. A. Coste, President, Cogema Canada Ltd.
