The first Asia/Pacific mining conference and exhibition will be held Feb 24-27 next year in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event is being organized by the Asian Federation of Mining Associations, and Cahners Exposition Group, and is being supported by such other groups as the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics, the Colorado Mining Engineers, and the Chinese Society of Metals.
Theme of the conference will be Minerals and the economic development of the Asia/Pacific region, and more than 60 keynote and individual speakers are expected from worldwide mining and related associations.
Five plenary sessions and a series of technical symposia have been planned.
The Asian Federation notes that the Asia/Pacific region is becoming one of the most active regions in the world for mineral exploration and development. Many of the minerals including the metals are being produced for world markets, but there is growing interest in minerals to serve the very large population of the region.
