WHAT’S NEW Milling equipment Vertical conveyor saves space

Stephens-Adamson, an Allis-Chalmers company, has introduced a new high-angle conveyor belt designed to save space in mills and concentrators. The company has also introduced a number of new conveyor belt accessories. The Beltavator Elevator, which lifts material at an angle of 90 degrees, sandwiches material between two belts to lift it without the material slipping back. The unit uses belts up to 42 inches wide operating at belt speeds approaching 1,000 ft per min.

To protect belts, material and idlers from the weather in outdoor applications, the company has introduced a conveyor hood made of #22 gauge galvanized steel or 0.04-in aluminum. The hoods are available in 4-ft sections for belt sizes ranging from 18 to 48 inches wide.

Curve Crown Pulleys has also been introduced. Designed to eliminate the centre peak of conventional crowned pulleys, they provide maximum belt training and reduced belt wear, the company says. The pulleys are available in 14 sizes from eight times to 16 inches in diameter.
