Two Vancouver-based companies, Bishop Resources Development and Mintek Resources, which are in the process of merging have re- opened a small silver-gold-lead-zinc mine near Smithers, B.C., which last produced in 1957.
Vice-president Lawrence Roulston says the mill began limited production of concentrates this week and is expected to be in full, 75-ton-per-day, production in mid- or late-March.
There are several hundred tons of ore available for immediate mining in the Duthie mine. The ore is valued at $250 per ton, according to Roulston. Mintek and Bishop hold a 50% interest in the mine.
The recent loss of the mine dry, work shop and compressor to a fire is not expected to delay operations, the company reports.
