Sinking work to extend the shaft below the 7th level at the producing Chimo gold mine in northwestern Quebec is to start in June, Louvem Mines (TSE) reports. The shaft should reach the 15th level in July, 1989.
The company reports an in-depth exploration program continues on zone 5 at the mine site. Results obtained from drilling during the past winter include 0.18 oz gold per ton over 22 ft, 0.21 oz over 14.8 ft and 0.25 oz over 27.7 ft.
Hole 375-117 intercepted zone 3 at the 12th level over 24.6 ft and grading 0.17 oz, the company says, confirming the in-depth extension of the zone.
