Results in Manitoba encourage Golden Range

A $3-million exploration program at the Hudvam polymetallic property in Manitoba is producing some encouraging results for Toronto- based Golden Range Resources.

Located 30 miles northeast of Flin Flon, Hudvam is part of a reverse acquisition agreement involving Golden Range and Mingold Resources. According to Golden Range, the latest results are from a 6-hole surface program designed to explore an area south of known reserves between 1,000 ft and 1,600 ft.

Golden Range says three holes encountered significant values in near-massive sulphides between the 1,400-ft and 1,600-ft level. The results are as follows: Hole 65 intersected 38 ft grading 0.054 oz gold per ton, 0.10 oz silver, 1.25% copper and 2.3% zinc. Hole 68 encountered 13 ft of average 0.130 oz gold, 0.24 oz silver, 0.87% copper and 1.8% zinc.

Hole 6W-1 located 85 ft from Hole 65 at the 1,400-ft level, intersected 77 ft of 0.078 oz gold, 0.18 oz silver, 0.99% copper and 2.5% zinc. “The other three holes returned only minor values,” said Golden Range President Peter Hunkin.

With one drill operating on site, work is also continuing on a 5,000-ft exploration decline designed to access zones No 1 and No 3 which contain an estimated 680,000 tons grading 0.126 oz gold, 0.44 oz silver, 1.45% copper and 1.90% zinc.

Golden Range has also received some encouraging results from drilling at its Sylvia joint venture polymetallic property near Snow Lake Man. Partner Manitoba Mineral Resources holds a 38% interest.

According to Golden Range, two holes, 400 ft apart at the 1,000-ft level have returned the following results in massive sulphides:

Hole 62 intersected 27 ft grading 0.055 oz gold, 1.48 oz silver, 0.12% copper and 6.5% zinc. Hole 63 encountered 18 ft grading 0.072 oz gold, 1.75 oz silver, 0.08% copper and 3.6% zinc.

Golden Range says holes 62 and 63 are 200 ft south and north respectively of another hole (56) which intersected 17 ft of 0.190 oz gold, 0.97 oz silver, 0.28% copper and 1.9% zinc.
