Zahavy begins $3 m program

A $3-million underground exploration program has begun on the Favourable Lake, Ont., gold property controlled by Zahavy Mines. Zahavy is an affiliate of Noramco Mining Corp.

The program will focus on the No 3 zone, which is one of six parallel gold and silver bearing shear zones on the property. Underground work will include drifting, raising and crosscutting on the 150 m and 225 m levels. Also, Zahavy plans to perform 3,000 m of diamond drilling.

The zone, which has been drilled to a depth of 300 m and along strike for 300 m, hosts three ore shoots which are part of a multiple vein system. These shoots are up to 10m wide and strike for 50-70 m, the company says. Previous exploration suggests that the potential exists for developing two additional shoots within the zone.

Following the completion of the underground effort, which will include the mining of a bulk sample, Zahavy will have sufficient data on which to base a feasibility study.
