Applegath Group active in Mishibishu exploration

The Applegath Group is increasing its activity in the Mishibishu area, located west of Wawa, Ont. A total of six companies within the group hold varying interests in a large tract of ground in the area. These include Alotta Resources, Tundra Gold Mines, Oneida Resources, New Beginnings Resources, Brass Ring Resources and Villeneuve Resources.

On Alotta’s claims, a 1,441-ft surface drilling program has been completed. Assays are expected shortly. Drilling is also under way on New Beginnings’s University River project located further to the east. Adjacent to the Alotta claims, Oneida and partner Brass Ring have received encouraging assay results from trench samples. These ranged up to 0.29 oz gold per ton.

Oneida believes the surface showings are associated with an extension of a gold-bearing structure which is the focus of a major exploration effort by Noranda Exploration and Central Crude further to the east (N.M., Nov 23/87). To the west of Alotta, Villeneuve crews are sampling and mapping geology with the objective of searching for the same regional structure striking across the Noranda and Alotta properties.
