A statement of defence in a lawsuit involving plaintiff Noranda Inc. and the defendants, Agnico-Eagle Mines, Mentor Exploration and Development and Dumagami Mines is expected to be filed in early 1988, a spokesman for Agnico-Eagle told The Northern Miner.
Although regulations call for the defendants to issue such a statement within 20 days of the statement of claim being served, the lawyers of both parties, as a matter of courtesy, may agree to a time extension to allow the documentation to be prepared.
Noranda has gone to court over the sale in 1986 of about 1.5 million shares of Dumagami Mines to Agnico-Eagle.
