Golden Zone gets drilling results

A 10,000-ft drill program carried out by Golden Zone Developments has extended the mineralized zones in the breccia pipe on its Golden Zone gold- silver prospect in south-central Alaska.

The Golden Zone breccia pipe, which is 200 ft wide, has been extended from about 350 ft at the surface to 550 ft and to a vertical depth of 600 ft below the upper outcrops of the pipe. The main zone in the pipe can be traced from surface at the western side of the pipe downward for 350 ft to a transverse fault. On the eastern side of the fault, the zone has been extended another 400 ft.

West of the fault, in hole 20C, the main zone averaged 0.172 oz gold per ton over 49 ft. In hole 20D, the zone averaged 0.201 oz over 19 ft. East of the fault, the zone was extended mainly by two holes. Hole 87-18, drilled across the zone, intercepted 25 ft grading 0.137 oz, including 10 ft which graded 0.255 oz. Hole 87-14 averaged 0.148 oz over 76 ft including 0.381 oz over 30 ft.

The Golden Zone breccia pipe and blt zones have probable geologic reserves of 534,610 tons averaging 0.238 oz above a cutoff of 0.12 oz (N.M., Nov 30/87). The company is continuing metallurgical testing and reserve modelling.
