Cross-Cuts CANADA, EEC COMBINE ON MINERAL RESEARCH

A co-operative program has been established between Canada and the European Economic Community for research to develop new technologies for treating complex ores. The agreement will facilitate the exchange of information and co-operation between Canadian and European research groups working on projects aimed at resolving several difficult problems related to mineral treatment: * the recovery of fine particles of ore to improve productivity of existing mines;

* use of mathematical modeling in combination with computerized analysis of mineralogical images to predict treatment methods for ore;

* more effective and economic removal of iron in metallurgical plants recovering metals such as zinc.
