A 14,000-ft diamond drill program has been started by Bitech Energy Resources on the company’s Tache Lake gold-zinc property near Chibougamau, Que. The program is designed to outline and confirm ore reserves amenable to open pit mining.
Held under option from Greenstone Resources, Bitech has the right to earn a 50% interest. Based on an assessment of data compiled by earlier workers on the property, the Tache Lake deposit hosts a geological reserve of 930,000 tons grading 4.12% zinc and 0.07 oz gold per ton.
Surface work suggests the mineralization also occurs in volcanic tuffs, not just in nearby ultramafic sills in which the current reserves are confined. This, Bitech says, increases the potential for building open pit reserves.
