Toronto-listed Cuvier Mines says that, together with its subsidiary Vancouver-listed Golden Hind Ventures, it is starting action in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland for the recovery of certain gold mining claims.
Cuvier says the action is against Noranda Exploration and Maritec Ltd., a private company, for the recovery of the Mings Bight East claims in Newfoundland. Cuvier says the claims were under contract for sale to Cuvier and Golden Hind by Maritec.
Cuvier alleged that Maritec, however, recently sold the claims to Noranda in breach of obligation to Cuvier and Golden Hind.
The claims mentioned above comprise a 20 claim block. Excluding these claims, Cuvier controls a 32-claim block in the Mings Bight area.
For several days prior to this announcement which was made Dec 2, trading in Cuvier shares has been active. During the period from Nov 26 to Dec 2, over one million shares traded hands with the price advancing 16 cents to a new high of 60 cents and a close of 52 cents .
Cuvier has a 52-week high and low of 60 cents and 18 cents , respectively.
