United acquires Mother Lode land

A large land position is being acquired by United Gold Corp. in the Mother Lode area of California. The first property, the Alameda, is located in Tuolumne Cty., adjoining the large Jamestown open pit mine development operated by Sonora Gold Corp. Both United and Sonora share the same management.

The Alameda property covers 2,500 ft of favorable strike. Initial work suggests that alteration, similar to that surrounding the Sonora deposits, exists on the United ground. Sonora is constructing a 6,000-ton-per-day mill which is expected to be completed by year- end. Annual gold production is estimated at 130,000 oz.

Negotiations are also in progress on several other large properties in the same area. The company says it expects to acquire several miles of ground after all negotiations are complete.
