Underground drifting is proceeding on schedule at Gunsteel Resource s’ Nugget gold property near Salmo, B.C. The work is focussing on the Calhoun vein which it says could be a continuation of the Nugget vein system. That high grade vein produced 57,000 tons of ore grading 0.56 oz gold but an estimated 24,000 tons still remain at 0.39 oz in readily accessible areas.
Encouraging results have been reported from the current development program. A 20-ft length of vein has been opened up with values ranging from 0.15 oz to 0.46 oz gold over widths of 10-30 in. Since those results were reported, the face has opened up to approximately four feet and it is well mineralized, Gunsteel confirms.
Drifting and underground drilling will be carried out on four different levels to test the Calhoun and several other structures to about 800 ft below the No 3 level. Preparatory work has been completed which will allow the program to continue over the winter months.
Additional claims have been acquired along strike at the company’s Allco property near Revelstoke, B.C. Only a grass-roots work program has been completed thus far including geochemical sampling, geological mapping, plus some geophysics. Gunsteel says preliminary results have been encouraging with gold, silver and some base metals encountered along an enriched surface zone.
Geophysical and geochemical exploration is under way at the company’s Jero property near Rossland and further work is planned in 1987 on its Omenica claim group and Chilko property.
