A prospecting program on the Berven Lake claims held under option by Troymin Resources has led to the discovery of four subeconomic zones of gold mineralization, the company says. Located 100 km northeast of La Ronge, Sask., the property is characterized by geology similar to that at the Star Lake project, also near La Ronge. Star Lake is expected to be producing gold by early 1987.
The prospecting program was designed to evaluate several magnetic anomalies outlined by an airborne survey. Gold mineralization, which assayed up to 0.052 oz gold per ton in grab samples, is associated with a 3.5-km-long magnetic anomaly. Gold is found in pyritic quartz veins.
Follow-up work will include trenching, mapping and detailed sampling of the occurrences. Troymin has the right to earn a 50% interest in the Berven and Severnson Lake properties by spending $450,000 on exploration by June 30, 1988. Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp. holds a 100% interest until the option terms are met.
