Aur drilling extends Bachelor Lake zone to Gewfrap property

Underground work by Aur Resources has shown that the gold zone being mined by Bachelor Lake Gold Mines on its Desmaraiasville, Que., property crosses over onto its Hewfran property. Aur, which has been drilling from a drift driven from the Bachelor Lake mine workings, intersected 0.28 oz gold per ton across 20.8 ft. The intersection was at a vertical depth of 1,150 ft. Three other holes intersected what appears to be the same mineralization at depths of 750-950 ft, including 0.12 oz over 10.1 ft and 0.1 oz over 9 ft.

The zone was encountered about 200 ft from the border with Bachelor Lake, and Aur President Jim Gill tells The Northern Miner the producing mine’s workings are to within 10 ft of the border on the 6th level (a depth of about 425 ft). Bachelor Lake has proposed development to a depth of about 1,800 ft on its property.

Although it appears natural that Bachelor Lake eventually mine any ore that might be proven up on the Hewfran property, Mr Gill says nothing has been agreed upon between the two companies. “We want to finish this program first,” he explains.

The encouraging results have prompted Aur to up its budget on the property to $710,000 from the initially planned $350,000. Part of the additional money will be spent on surface drilling. Aur plans to drill three deep surface holes, stepping out to about 600 ft from the Bachelor Lake boundary, to try and extend the strike length even further.
