A 6,800-ft drill program has met with encouragement at the Jojay gol d property held by partners Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp. (SMDC) (66%), Claude Resources (34%) and Shore Gold Fund, which can earn a 15% interest.
Located less than five miles north of SMDC’s Star Lake gold project in northern Saskatchewan, the Jojay property hosts a gold showing discovered in the early 1940s.
SMDC performed the drilling with the intention of confirming the historical results. Of the 17 holes completed, 14 intersected good grades of gold mineralization. Some of the better sections include hole No 3 which cut 19 ft grading 0.17 oz gold per ton and hole No 9 which intersected a 22-ft section assaying 0.32 oz. Hole No 13 was also wide, cutting 19.7 ft grading 0.28 oz. A majority of the other holes were narrower, averaging 7.5 ft and ranging in grade from, 0.12-1.1 oz.
In total, the drilling tested the mineralized zone for 700 ft along strike to a depth of 260 ft. The zone remains open along strike and at depth, SMDC reports.
