Noranda Exploration is drilling a precious metal property in west-central B.C. under an option agreement with Atna Resources. The program is designed to give a cross-section of an existing mineralized zone and is preliminary to a more extensive drill program next year.
Precious metal values to 256 oz silver and 0.42 oz gold have been noted in veins, fracture fillings and disseminations in a northeast trending zone which exceeds 4,900 ft along strike and up to 650 ft in width. The zone is anomalous in silver, lead and arsenic based on soil geochemistry.
Channel samples have assayed up to 8.5 oz silver and 0.164 oz gold across 5.2 ft. Veins, pods and lenses of massive sulphide containing combinations of arsenopyrite, galena, sphalerite, tetrahedrite, pyrite, quartz and amphibole occur over widths up to 6.5 ft, the company says.
Atna is currently arranging a drill program for its Boucher Creek anthracite property, which should begin later this month.
