The second phase of evaluation of its Tangier property near Halifax, N.S., has started, says Coxheath Gold Holdings President Michael Riddell.
This phase, which includes detailed surface geochemistry and 11,500 ft of diamond drilling, is designed to continue ore reserve development on the two zones outlined by drilling in early summer and to establish a location for possible underground development later in the year.
The two zones outlined to date are parallel steeply dipping quartz vein and slate structures, both averaging 4 to 5 ft in width with gold values averaging 0.37 oz gold per ton in the upper zone and 0.31 oz in the lower zone.
Both these zones, which have been tested along a strike length of 350 ft and to an average depth of 400 ft, are open to depth and along strike. Mr Riddell says the estimated minimum strike length of the gold-bearing formation to the northeast is 2,000 ft with the known total strike of the Tangier structure being in excess of 11,500 ft.
