Orofino Resources has acquired an option to earn an 80% interest in a 25-claim property near Mine Centre, Ont. In order to earn its interest, Orofino must spend $300,000 by Dec 31, 1989. A surface exploration program is under way.
No detailed exploration has been conducted on the property since gold was first discovered in the 1880s, Orofino reports. Surface grab samples from gold-bearing quartz veins have assayed 0.04, 0.05 and 2.27 oz gold per ton from three outcrops. The veins are associated with a shear zone and quartz porphyry.
