Majescor confirms sill-like kimberlite body at Wemindji

Majescor Resources (MAJ-V) has encountered multiple shallow, sub-horizontal kimberlite sills or dykes extending over a 400-by-500-metre area of its wholly owned Wemindji property on the east side of James Bay in northern Quebec.

Cut by 15 holes, the kimberlite sills or dykes average 2 metres in thickness. One sill exhibits multiple intrusive phases, whereas a second sill is coarser-grained and contains abundant large olivines and other megacrysts up to 3 cm in diameter, along with probable mantle xenoliths. The kimberlite was intersected from 4 to 32 metres of depth and remains open in all directions.

Core samples are undergoing petrographic analysis at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. Samples will also be submitted for microdiamond analysis and age-dating.

During the winter program, Majescor completed 22 holes for a total of 1,481 metres of drilling. The junior held off drilling two other areas that exhibit highly anomalous indicator mineral counts in light of the recent discovery. More test-pitting will be done in these areas prior to drilling.
